Frida Kahlo, the most famous female artist of Mexico and the wife of the world-renowned muralist Diego Rivera, was born in Mexico City in 1907. La Casa de Frida Kahlo, or the Casa Azul (due to its color), became world-famous after the Hollywood movie Frida’s release, starring Salma Hayek.
The blue house is where Frida lived during her childhood, and today is a Museum that holds collections and all information about this tremendous Mexican personality.
During her years with her unpredictable husband Diego Rivera, the Casa Azul was a safe heaven for Kahlo. Visitors can admire many paintings of her. However, the museum also exhibits Kahlo’s personal belongings, such as pieces of clothing, indigenous jewelry, and shoes.
