The Pyramids of Teotihuacan

One of the most impressive archeological zones in Mexico

The famous pyramids of Teotihuacán, ‘the place where gods were created,’ are 45km north-east of Mexico City and are the most visited archeological site in Central Mexico. The early history of Teotihuacan is quite mysterious. The construction of the earliest buildings dates back to around 200 BC. The largest pyramid, the Pyramid of the Sun, was completed by 100 AD.

It is assumed that the City may have counted 200,000 inhabitants during its period of prosperity. Until its inhabitants abandoned the City around the 8th century, Teotihuacan was probably the most significant and civilized cultural center of ancient Mexico. Nowadays, the so-called ‘Pyramid of the Sun’ is the largest in the world.

Your tour will start with a stop at Plaza de las Tres Culturas. Then continue in the northern direction, to Teotihuacan.
