One of the most important archaeological sites in the State of Campeche is a Mayan city inhabited for two millenniums. It is known as the “Home of the Itzaes,” which the local Mayan people used to be called. In Edzna, you can visit the Great Acropolis, where the emblematic five-story building is set and from which you can have an excellent sight of the main square. The Nohochna building was also called La Casa Grande (the Big House), where its government was set. For anybody who intends to learn about the Mayan civilization, Edzna is a great site to visit. It can easily be reached from the city of Campeche.
