Welcome to Mexico! At the airport of Oaxaca meet and greet with a local representative and transfer to your Hotel. Oaxaca is one of the most colorful colonial towns of Mexico and listed as World Heritage. It is also famous for its many indigenous traditions, reflected in its wonderful crafts and typical gastronomy.
After check-in to your Hotel we will have a guided visit in the historic center of Oaxaca. We will explore the beauty of this city, with sights such as the Cathedral, the magnificent Santo Domingo church, the Museum of Gold, and the colorful “20 de Noviembre” market.
Get ready to discover some of the best places in the state of Oaxaca. Start with a visit to the small town of Teotitlán del Valle, famous for its handmade textiles. In a workshop, local weavers explain to you how they make their rugs, scarfs and other textiles since centuries.
From there we will visit Mitla, which was the Zapotec ceremonial center and the residence of holy men. Mitla is characterized by its ornate constructions with wonderful mosaics.

Next stop today will be Hierve del Agua, where you will have the opportunity to observe the petrified waterfalls and take a refreshing dip in the mineral waters while enjoying the view of an unbeatable landscape. An unforgettable experience!
On our way back to Oaxaca we will visit the largest and probably oldest living being in the world. The gigantic Sabine is known as “the Tule tree”. It measures 40 meters, has a diameter of 52.58 meters, weighs 509 tons and is approximately 2000 years old.

This morning, we will visit Monte Alban, the ancient capital of Zapotec people and spectacularly situated on a mountain 400 meters above the Oaxaca Valley, in a triumph of engineering, the mountaintop was leveled to allow for the creation of the ceremonial site. The visit includes the museum and at the Archeological Site, the Main Square, Ball Game, the Observatory, and the Dancers Building. We visit Monte Alban first since is a very popular Archeological zone and it gets really hot in the afternoon. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to meet two villages full of popular Oaxacan craftsmanship. First stop will be in Coyotepec, famous for its production of black pottery. Later, we will go to the village of Arrazola, here we will visit a handicraft workshop to see how the famous "Alebrijes" (fantastic cardboard animals) are made.

Tonight is an excursion to the cemeteries. Admire this Mexican tradition, where families gather around the graves of their loved ones and decorate them with their favorite food and flowers hopefully awaiting the arrival of their souls to share this night with them. In this tour, you will visit two villages and their cemeteries.

Today you will learn about the famous liquor of Oaxaca – the Mezcal. But before we will visit the archeological zone Yagul. Located on a steep hill it became the center of the culture and civilization after the decline of Monte Alban. One of the most interesting aspects of Yagul is the presence of mural painting on floors and walls of its structures. From here we will visit the Mezcaleria Los Amantes. This distillery is one of a kind as you can actively follow the production process of Mezcal. It starts with the different agave plants until the finished drink. And of course you cannot miss a Mezcal tasting at the end!

Upon return to Oaxaca free time to stroll around the markets and observe the preparations for the Night of the Dead tomorrow. In the evening you will witness the celebrations for the Day of the Dead with a parade in nearby town. Here the locals dress up to primarily represent different famous people from their community. The most important costume is the "Resurrector", which carries a black coat with mirrors that represent the light of life. They dance and walk around town all night.

In the morning you can attend the different events organized by the government throughout the whole city. Why don't you visit the exhibition of bread of death, the grinders to prepare the chocolate or visit a factory where they make chocolate? In the evening we will depart to Xococotlán. This village is located about 45 minutes from the city and known for its stunning altar decorations and festivities. We will visit the Pantheon, altars and flower carpets.
