- What is the Hanal Pixan?
Hanal Pixan is the traditional celebration for the Day of the Dead in the area of Quintana Roo and Yucatan. Actually, the traditions have also influences of Spanish colonization but in fact they are mainly part of the Mayan heritage.
- What should I bring with me?
We recommend you to bring comfortable shoes, fresh clothing, bathing suit and a hat. Besides, bring an additional set of clothes and some extra money for crafts and photos.
- Do I need to participate in all activities?
This day shall give you an authentic insight into the traditional Mayan lifestyle and the celebrations of Hanal Pixan. Hence, it is necessary that you participate in all activities. However, if you wish for another itinerary you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and our staff gladly modifies a journey just for you.
- Is some food included in the tour?
Water and a traditional lunch is part of this tour. The food consist of soup, chicken, chayitas, rice, beans, handmade tortillas and flavored water. However, if you have special dietary restrictions let us know so we can coordinate them in order to make your day with us easy and pleasurable for you.
- Is this tour suitable for children and seniors?
The tour suits everyone there is no age limit, although it is not recommended for children under 6 years. Yet, if you wish for a more kid-friendly tour contact us at email@example.com and we will adapt your journey according to you wishes.
- At what time will we return?
You will approximately return at around 5 to 6 pm to your hotel.
- What is the size of the group?
You will experience this celebration in a group of at least 10 people. Enjoy being amongst others while remembering and honoring your ancestors the Mayan way. Share memories, tell stories and maybe make new friends on the way!
- Can I participate in any Day of the Dead traditions?
Yes absolutely. This tour shall involve you in the traditions of the Mayan communities and their celebration of the Day of the Dead. Thus, you will not only be able to enjoy some typical food, but also participate in a ceremony and the decoration of an altar to honor the dead.
- What is included, what is not included?
In this tour the transportation, lunch, water, a bilingual cultural guide, material for the altar, towels and lockers are provided. Yet, personal expenses for gifts, tips or other services have to be paid extra.
- I have dietary restrictions – can you still accommodate me?
Yes, absolutely. Please let us know your restrictions and we can coordinate with the restaurants in order to make your day with us easy and pleasurable.
- Are there any student or senior discounts?
Our prices are the same for everyone – there is no student or senior discount.
- Can I give this as a present to a friend?
Of course – there is nothing better than giving your friend a unique memory. At the time of the purchase we only need the data of the person that will receive the present. Of course we will not contact that person if you wish to make it a surprise.
- With which credit cards can I pay for the activities?
We accept all mayor credit cards as well as PayPal.
- How can I change my purchase?
You can cancel or change your purchase up to 48hrs before the activity itself. Besides, you can still change the name of the participant at the same day as the tour. If you wish to change the beneficiary please provide us with the reservation number, name, email adress and telephone number to make the change.
- How can I be sure the purchase was successful?
By giving our attentive customer service your reservation number and name, our staff will be happy to assist you and confirm your purchase.
- Can I request the return of a purchase after the expiry date?
After the successful realization of a tour, you cannot request a refund of your purchase.
- How can I find out about the availability of the tour?
You can see the availability on our website when booking.
- When will you charge me for the purchase?
The charge for you purchase goes automatically. So, if you change your mind within the first 48hrs, you will retrieve the amount.
- Is it necessary to bring a printed confirmation?
No – upon arrival of your car you only need to tell us your name and confirmation number.
- I do not have PayPal or a credit card, is there another method to book your tour?
Yes, you can transfer the money for the tour electronically to our account. Please contact our friendly staff to help you.
- I will participate with a companian. Where can I indicate their name?
If you go with a friend or in a group we only need one name to make the reservation. In case the person indicated in the confirmation is not able to participate, let us know the name of the representative, the confirmation number and email to change your reservation.
- With what credit cards can I pay for the activities?
We accept all major credit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD and American Express) as well as PayPal to make your purchase.
- What happens if I arrive late for an activity?
We know how difficult it can be to be exactly on time in Mexico. Hence, you have 30 minutes of tolerance before we will consider a “No Show”. However, if these 30 minutes are up there will be no refunds as it is considered as No Show.
- Where and when is the meeting point to start this tour?
We will pick you up directly at your hotel. Thus, it is important that you indicate the name of your hotel in Special Requirements in the form of reservation. If you do not have a hotel yet or if it is not indicated in your reservation form, you can coordinate with us via email 48 hrs in advance.
